On May 18th 2006 New Hope VFD responded to a House struck by lightning.
E500 assisted Gastonia City Fire on a reported house struck by lightning
in the Beacon Hills neighberhood. E7 was first due and reported light
smoke from the roof. As additional companies arrived and assignments
were given, the situation went from light smoke to heavy smoke and fire from
the B side of the structure. Crews were able to gain access to the
attic and stopped the spread of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Units responded included: E7, L4, L3, R3, B1 from Gastonia City Fire, E500 from
New Hope VFD, and one unit from GEMS.
